APPOINTMENT OF RECTOR

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of the RECTOR at the Global Theological Seminary (GTS) which will become vacant effective 1st September, 2023.

The Institution

The GTS was established by the Global Evangelical Church in 1991 for the purpose of training pastors and other church workers within and outside the Global Evangelical Church. Currently, the Seminary has gained institutional accreditation from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission and is in the process of developing programmes leading to the award of Diplomas and Degree Certificates in Theology. It also runs non-pastoral certificate level programmes in Christian Ministry; Christian Leadership; Biblical Counselling; Biblical Peace Making; and Professional Lay Counselling.

The Position

The Rector is the Chief Executive Officer having overall authority over the academic, management, administrative, and financial affairs of the Seminary subject only to the Statutes and policy directives coming from the Governing Council and the Synod Committee Executive of the Global Evangelical Church. The Rector reports directly to the Chairman of the Governing Council to whom s/he provides strategic advice and briefings. The powers, functions and conditions of engagement of the Rector are explicitly spelt out in Statute 3.2 of the Statutes of GTS.

Qualifications and Experience: The applicant must:

  1. Be an Ordained Minister of the Global Evangelical Church who is in good standing;
  2. Have a minimum of a Doctorate Degree; and
  3. Have not less than 5 years’ post-qualification working experience in a seminary and or a tertiary educational institution, three (3) years of which should be at the top senior level management and administrative grade.

In addition, the applicant must have:

  1. Proven record of a strong intellect with excellent managerial, administrative, leadership, communication and interpersonal skills;
  2. Demonstrated a deep appreciation and understanding of the academic (working) environment of a tertiary educational institution as well as the national tertiary education policy and best practices;
  3. An in-depth knowledge of the history, evolution and operations of seminaries;
  4. Other attributes as the Search Committee shall deem relevant.

Terms of Appointment: Shall be as determined by the Governing Council in line with the Seminary’s Statutes and the policy guidelines of the Global Evangelical Church.
