Global Theological Seminary relocates

The Moderator of the Global Evangelical Church, Rt Rev. Dr Setorwu Kodzo Ofori, has disclosed that the Global Theological Seminary (GTS) will relocate to Adaklu-Wumenu, near Ho, in the Volta Region.

He said the relocation exercise, scheduled for the end of this year, was to give the seminary a permanent site and also to meet accreditation requirements.

Rev. Dr Ofori was addressing the 2017 Presbytery Representative Conferences in Koforidua, Accra and Tema.

He said so far, the church had put a considerable number of infrastructure in place to enable

the seminary to take off smoothly next academic year, while efforts were being made to add more.

He said the present location of the seminary would be maintained as a city campus where short courses would run.The moderator said a strategic document was being put together to drive and direct growth and development actions of the church over the next 10 years with effect from January 2018.

“We are calling on all stakeholders for full cooperation to meet timelines and also accuracy in providing information”, he said.

Rev. Dr Ofori announced that the synod committee of the church had decided to hold a mini – synod this year, scheduled for August 4, 2017 at the Ho – Fiave Global Evangelical Church.

It would be on the theme:“Thy Kingdom Come – Making a Christ –Like Disciple”.

Rev. Dr Ofori said leadership had observed that, “we lack leaders and teachers who have adequate training in leading Bible study.

To help fill this gap, the head office collaborated with the Bible Study and Prayer Fellowship (BSPF) in organising a trainer of trainers course for selected leaders/members of the church  from every congregation”, he said.

The moderator called on the presbytery chairmen to meet with the Director of Church Life and Nurture and draw a comprehensive training programme for leaders in their respective congregations.

Presbytery Representative Conferences concept resonates with the Global Evangelical  Church where leadership visits all 15 presbyteries of the church.

The conferences afford the executives and their teams the platform to interrogate issues and interact with delegates, thereby bringing the head office closer to members.

This year, there were four teams each led by the moderator, the Synod Clerk Rev. Rapheal Mac Attih, the Male PresbyterExecutive, Prof. Remmeil Adosraku and the Female Presbyter Executive, Mrs Esi Boboobee.
