Students Affairs Coordinator

The office of Students’ Affairs of the Global Theological Seminary (GTS) is under the responsibility of the (Dean of Students) Students’ Affairs Coordinator. He oversees all the activities of students, and also seeks their welfare and liaises between students and management.

He coordinates ministerial formation, practical training, as well as handling moral issues of the students at all levels. He also manages student activities, enforces disciplinary measures and organises weekly Chapel Services, morning devotions, Wednesday and Friday programmes and periodic spiritual retreats and seminars. In addition, the Dean/Coordinator has the responsibility to enforce school regulations and policies regarding students of the seminary. He serves as a point of information for students, addresses student questions and concerns and adjudicate disputes among students. Furthermore, he encourages academic success and monitors as well as supports students who are struggling with their academic work.

The Dean/Coordinator chairs the Chaplaincy Board and the Students’ Affairs Committee. Finally, he serves as a liaison between programmes and student organisations, such as Student Representative Council (SRC).

 

THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE OFFICE OF STUDENTS’ AFFAIRS

(1)Coordinates ministerial formation, practical training, as well as handling welfare and moral issues of the students at all levels.

(2)Organizes new students’ orientation sessions and activities.

(3)Manages student activities, enforcing disciplinary measures and ensuring that all student programmes run smoothly.

(4)Enforces school regulations and policies regarding students.

(5)Serves as a point of information for students, addresses student questions and concerns.

(6)Supervises various campus programmes and serves as a liaison between Programmes and student organisations, such as Student Representative Council (SRC).

(7)Handles discipline-related processes and procedures, and adjudicate disputes among students.

(8)Encourages academic success and monitoring as well as supporting students who are struggling with their academic work.

(9)Manages a budget for student activities and recommends students’ funding requests to the Rector for approval or disapproval.

(10)Addresses and resolves students’ behavioural issues.

(11)Maintains files of all student activities, meetings, investigations, and disciplinary hearings.

(12)Organizes weekly Chapel Services and periodic spiritual retreats, evangelistic outreaches and other religious activities of the Seminary.

(13)Counsels students and their families and or referring them to accredited counsellors as and when necessary.

(14)Chairs the Chaplaincy Board and the Students Affairs Committee.

 

Students Affairs Committee

A five-member Students Affairs Committee chaired by the Chaplain/ Students Affairs Coordinator has an oversight responsibility over students’ general welfare, joint activities and services such as sports, clubs, societies and excursions. It is also mandated to make adequate provisions for the supervision and welfare of students residing in the Seminary hostels; handle general complaints about student matters; maintain contact with the Seminary Alumni; and submit periodic reports on its work to the Rector.
